Viewing side by side and making a side-by-side picture
These are two different jobs. Viewing is for you: the two panes below move together, so zooming into an eye, a logo or a line of small print on the left shows exactly the same area on the right. Unlock the panes to wander around one photo on its own; lock them again and the right pane snaps back to the left one.
Making a combined picture is for someone else — a client, a classmate, a listing. Export opens on the side-by-side template: both photos at the same height with their labels, on a light or dark background, ready to download as one PNG.
When the photos are wide, stack them
Two panoramas or two desktop screenshots side by side leave each one a thin strip. In the export, “Stack vertically” puts A above B instead, which keeps both large on a phone screen and in a document. On a narrow screen the viewing panes stack by themselves.
Photos of different sizes
A phone photo and a resized copy of it will not line up pixel for pixel. The workspace looks for where the smaller one sits inside the larger and scales it to match before showing them together, and says what it did. If you would rather see each photo exactly as it is, choose “Original px” under Size & alignment.
Questions people ask
›Can I zoom both photos at the same time?
Yes. Zoom and pan are locked together by default, so both panes always show the same area. Turn off “Lock zoom and pan together” to move one side on its own.
›How do I save the two photos as one picture?
Press Export. The side-by-side template is already chosen; set the labels and background, pick side by side or stacked, and download the PNG. It is drawn in this page.
›Should I stack wide photos?
Usually. Wide pictures placed next to each other shrink to a strip; stacking keeps each one at full width, which reads better on phones and in documents.
